Recently we at Platform46 announced our new service for Business Continuity Communications. This decision was one that created plenty of conversation within our four walls, but wasn’t a hard one to make. We pride ourselves on our expertise in internal communication, and using that during an important business incident makes perfect sense. Requests by customers also helped! The need for business continuity has never been doubted, but many organisations seem to lack anything robust. As one expert said to me, “most companies have a Word document and forget where they put it.” Where plans are robust, many rely on a “phone tree” which creates delays of hours before an incident can be responded to. This is the problem that we’re resolving. In choosing this path we obviously looked at the research from analysts, such as Forresters, and are greatly encouraged by what we’re seeing. Forresters say that business continuity is the number one spending priority for SME’s, and the number two for large enterprises after infrastructure consolidation. I wonder why this would be, and can only link it to unknowns in climate change, as well as high-profile events such as the earthquake in New Zealand, the Chilean miners, and the Hungarian toxic sludge. These things could happen to anyone, and the insurance policy of business continuity seems to be the way organisations are looking to tackle them. If you haven’t had a look, take a peek at http://cloudbcm.com . Drop us an email if you like what you see. We’re always here to help! |
